A number of boys have decided to continue their football development and their studies by winning scholarships in the US.
Wellsway College student Josh Arberry, 18, will head to the USA in August to take up a place at Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky. Josh was at Chandag Junior school whilst playing for Bath. The midfielder will study Physical Education while playing for the Bulldogs soccer team. He said: "It is a great opportunity to develop my career as a player and get a degree." Aspiring PE teacher Josh believes his education is as important as his career in football. He is taking A levels in business studies and history, and a BTEC in sport.
Morgan Marsh is another who is making the trip over the Atlantic. The Frome youngster will join Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, Tennessee, where he will combine university studies with playing high level football for the college’s Bulldogs soccer team over the next four years.
Finally, William Oswin is about to embark upon his second year in Texas having already had a successful season last year.
We wish all the boys the best of luck in the States and look forward to hearing about how they progress.
